If you don't already have good karma, fast travel to Megaton. You will see a guy named Mick sitting near the entrance. Give him purified water, and you will get good karma. You may need to give him more water depending on how good or bad your karma currently is.

See, my Karma was bad from blowing up Megaton I believe it was, and I have no way to make it good again. Seems like it would take too long

I managed to get this achievement, it isn't really hard as long as you avoid doing bad things. I personally like to go paragon in games that give me a choice
