Assassins Creed 3 Multiplayer Guide
Assassins Creed 3 online is a lot tougher than the story mode, so you might need some help.
In case you don't know what game mode you're playing and how to play it (happened to me a lot recently), here is a list of information.
Free-for-All modes
- Wanted - The classic free for all game type returns mostly unchanged. Get the most points by killing and stunning opponents to win.
- Deathmatch - Kill and stun opponents without the help of your compass on a much smaller map.
- Assassinate - Find your targets in the crowd and lock on to them to make them a target but make sure to not reveal yourself as well.
- Wolf Pack - A new mode which allows co-operative play between players, allowing players to hunt down NPCs in a set amount of time. This game session will launch with a single player participating in it.
- Artifact Assault - Teams have to steal the other teams artifact and return it to base while simultaneously defending their own. The team with the most scores at the end of the game wins.
- Manhunt - Teams of four take turns hunting and hiding for points.
- Domination - A mode where you have to capture and hold up to 3 areas.
Tips
- Playing the tutorials will help you! They are annoying but in the end, you will be thankful for them.
- If your target is shared among multiple pursuers (as indicated by blue marks under the target potrait), dont fret. Its not worth risking a slightly better score when one or more other players is going for the same guy as you are.
- Don't gang up on targets in team game modes. If your user interface is telling you your entire squad is hunting one woman, perhaps its better you break off and assassinate a lone target somewhere else on the map. Your team probably does not need your help, and youll get a better score by doing this.
- Sound helps, listen to the whispers!
- Check the score often.
Defensive Tips
- While a good assassination could be worth more than 1000 points, getting killed before reaching your target means no points/bonuses for you. In fact, its worse than no bonuses, since you lose time in respawn and your opponents get to profit from your untimely death.
- Dealing with your own pursuers before eliminating your target is key.
- You dont have to actively lure your pursuers out, but if you see or hear them in proximity (as indicated by The Whispers), start drafting your defensive plan.
- Move away from large buildings to prevent an air assassination, walk in crowds. Don't be caught trying to hide like a fool!
- Maybe stall your pursuer long enough until he gets killed?
- Once you feel safe from pursuers, you can take your time for a high scoring kill.
Pursuing your target
- Don't underestimate your target!
- You may want to attempt a less risky, lower-scoring assassination, if you feel it's safer. Points are better than none at all.
- Learn from your mistakes when you die, don't keep making the same ones.
- Observe other player's strategies (the ones with the highest scores).
