Broken Clockworks are objects that appear in the Ruins. When hammered or otherwise destroyed, they have the potential to drop Gears, Frazzled Wires, Melty Marbles, and Gems. There also exists the chance that when destroyed, lightning strikes and spawns the hostile version of the Damaged Knight,Damaged Rook, or Damaged Bishop. The player can use 3 Gears to repair it and spawn an allied chesspiece.

There are three different types of Broken Clockworks, the first can only spawn Rooks and Knights the second can only spawn Rooks and Bishops and the third can only spawn Knights and Bishops. Knights spawn more often than the Rooks or Bishops.
