Xbox E3 - “Solid Lineup” & New XB1 Hardware w/Internal Power Supply

4.4
In the last two days, we’ve had several leaks on E3 2016 announcements. This is mostly thanks to insiders like Shinobi602, who proved his reliability over and over again, and newcomers like Enter the Dragon Punch and ekim who successfully leaked Dead Rising 4 and State of Decay 2.

They’ve dropped a few more tidbits today, with a particular focus on Microsoft’s showcase. Shinobi started by saying that Microsoft is going to have a “super solid lineup”.

Making a roundup, it’s safe to say that the following titles will be featured at their press conference:

Dead Rising 4
State of Decay 2
Crackdown 3
Halo Wars 2
Gears of War 4
Scalebound
Sea of Thieves
ReCore
Forza Horizon 3

That’s not counting further surprises. Regarding Forza Horizon 3, Enter the Dragon Punch said that it will be on PC too and it’s going to be set in the Southern Hemisphere. But there’s more: according to ekim, there will be new Xbox One hardware with an internal power supply.

He then also added that this system will be able to play movies at a “certain resolution”. This seems to suggest an Xbox One Slim with 4K movies playback capabilities, which fits the previous rumors by The Verge:
Sources familiar with Microsoft’s Xbox plans tell The Verge that the refreshed Xbox One will be 40 percent smaller than the current model, and will likely include 4K video support.

The Xbox One Scorpio, on the other hand, appears to be further out in the release timeline. This would be a much more powerful system thanks to a stronger GPU (likely derived from the new AMD Polaris architecture), with a reported target of 5-6 teraflops, about four times what the current Xbox One is capable of; that’s because the Scorpio would have to support Oculus Rift and 4K gaming, which are much more demanding than 1080P (and often lower) resolution.

Pretty excited for E3 this year!

*cough cough* Red Dead Redemption! lol Other than that I can't wait for E3!

An internal power supply would actually be interesting. Better than the stupid thing floating around at the moment.

Awesome lineup - very excited for E3 this year.

If its not more powerful I will not be buying it. Nice games though.

Not really excited for any of this stuff. Xbox One just barely came out 4 years ago, not ready for a new console yet. I guess I'll be making the permanent switch to PC gaming at some point soon. Especially with all that new hardware that's come out recently.

GTXPlayer One thing that amuses me is that sites still report that the Xbox One doesn't meet the technical criteria for running games at 4k, when it's already been proven by officials. lol.

Besides that, I can't wait for Halo Wars 2 and Horizon 3 :)

I don't think it's going to try to run games at 4k. Only movies. Consoles can't even do 60fps at 1080p on a lot of games there's no way that they can do 4k on games.

You just contradicted yourself OmittingCoder, you said the console would be able to display 4k for movies but can't display can't do 60fps at 1080p (I'm excluding the rest out for a reason, just hear me out)... by this logic if the console cannot display 60fps at 1080p than how would displaying a movie at 4k through the console be any different when the resolutions are read through the same display unit? Also to clarify what you are really trying to say, most games today are not built at 4k capability so even though this unit will be able to play at 4k, the games will need to have been made with 4k resolution to be considered 4k, same with movies. If the movie was not filmed with 4k quality the film will not be displayed at 4k quality. So in other words, without the source being 4k, 60fps whatever the hell.... you will not get that quality in the receiving end (your TV/ monitor)

He did not contradict himself. There is a difference between watching a movie that is at 4K and playing a game that is at 4K. When you watch a movie at 4K it has already been rendered. When you play a game the GPU/CPU has to render the frames and output them to the screen. He was saying that games can barely run at 1080p at 60 frames, which is the truth. That being said, the console would be able to do 4K video with a slight hardware upgrade. (Could be a new HDMI 2.0 port or a Display port. maybe even a slight GPU upgrade)

He was specifically talking about games running at 1080p60. While the console will be able to output 4k for movies and such.
