Larry Hyrb Offers Apology for Red Dead Redemption Xbox One Confusion

4.6
Many Xbox One owners went through a rough time this weekend, as Red Dead Redemption was briefly available via backwards compatibility, then swiftly taken down. Players were only able to access the game if they had bought the digital version on Xbox 360 or the Xbox Store online. It took a fair bit of digging to discover how to use the game, but many players were excited about it.

Red Dead Redemption continues to be one of the most demanded backwards compatible titles on the Xbox One, and the latest comments from Xbox’s Larry Hyrb seem to indicate that fans are being heard. On a Reddit post about the game’s availability, he offered the following:

Microsoft tests all Xbox 360 games with our emulator to ensure a quality experience across a breadth of titles. Due to an error, some of the games currently in test were accidentally made available. We have since removed access to those games, and apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We will have more information on upcoming releases soon.

So it would seem that Microsoft is testing Red Dead Redemption for Xbox One but it isn’t quite ready yet.

I can't believe this game is $30 still on xbox store. I will have to wait for it to work on disc.

Least they offer an apology for it.

Don't really think this is something that people should kick off about tbh.

I just dont understand how you can accidentally release this. I mean come on if some people have it already then it should be good to go right?

Didn't hear about this until now, but that sucks. I would have been so excited if I had seen it in my Available to Download games. Was one of the best games of its time.
