Homefront: The Revolution will have microtransactions, but free DLC

4.6
Homefront: The Revolution is the latest title to include in-game microtransactions, though the developers promise post-launch DLC to be free.

The upcoming Homefront: The Revolution will not feature a season pass. Instead, the game will rely on microtransactions, and will offer “at least a year” of free content post launch.

Game designer Fasahat Salim explained to Gamespot in an interview that microtransactions will be in the form of loot crates, but won’t offer anything regular players can’t obtain.

“It’s absolutely not a pay-to-win system because everything we’re providing in these resistance crates is available for free in the game through normal play,” he told the site.

“All we’re offering is, for those players that don’t necessarily have the time to invest in the game, to unlock those cool things. It’s basically just a time saver for them; a shortcut to unlocking these things. They pay a little bit of money but they’re not getting anything that’s exclusive to them.”

The game’s post-launch DLC will provide new missions. “We’re not doing any sort of packs. We’re not making map packs or anything like that,” he added. “As we’re done with a mission, we’re going to release it, the community can go ahead and play it, and we’re going to keep doing that for at least a year after release.”

Homefront: The Revolution is due for a beta starting February 11. The full game is out May 17 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

I enjoyed the first Homefront very much. Pre-Ordering this soon can't wait for multiplayer.

Italian Every game does it. Literally almost every game now a days. Kind of have to deal with the future of gaming like this. Black Ops 3 did it well, get cod points to buy aesthetics, or earn them fast and easy, unlike AW which took forever to aquire a good amount to buy these crates. I don't mind this, especially with FREE DLC? I'm fine with this. Companies have to make money to progress into another game someday

yes bo3 is good for it AW meh dont egt me started lol

This is good and but in both ways. They didn't specify in micro-transaction but what it seems like, its going to be buying guns early. Such as better guns then normal and maybe even armor. We will have to wait and see

Thinking about purchasing this game, graphics look really well. We'll see...

I have never played Homefront but any game with a free DLC is good.

So it's not a pay to win but a pay to get the good stuff before anybody else. Honestly if they're already announcing this before the game comes out it doesn't look good. With the last game bombed and this announcement came up, I'm already judging the game in a bad way.
