Next iPhone casing is thicker, more likely to prevent "bendgate"

4.6
As we inch closer to the release of the next iPhone, components are slowly finding their way into the hands of YouTubers, journalist and those that are simply curious. While the next iPhone will look identical to its predecessor, it looks like Apple has improved the shell in attempt to prevent the "bendgate" fiasco from last year.

Although Apple has gone on record stating the the bending incident was blown out of proportion, it looks like the next iteration of the iPhone will see improvements in construction that should prevent the iPhone from easily bending. Unbox Therapywas able to acquire some of the parts for the upcoming iPhone and has found that some of the areas of the casing are indeed thicker than the previous model. Interestingly, he also found that the new casing is actually lighter than the old one. In addition to the build, it is also rumored that Apple will be using stronger materials this time around to prevent bending incidents.

Bendgate would have never been a problem if the metal used for the iPhone 6+ was of better quality in the first place.

Repulsive98 finally no phone should bend in the first place.

Yes, and phone glass shouldn't break, and buttons shouldn't stop working, and software should never malfunction! lol all things we wish, but unfortunately accidents do happen and now they are taking the proper precautions to avoid it happening in the future.

TMH_x_Modder if apple stopped releasing so many phones and took their time on one they may make a decent phone

I have an iPhone 6 its a great phone. Just because fat people can make a phone bend once doesn't make it a bad phone.

Lol, an average/skinny person with their phone in the back pocket could bend it. Not necessarily all fat people bend their phones...

Why didnt they just do it for that one they should of done bend tests on it before Release.

They say it was blown out of proportion, but the tried to charge me 600 for their phone bending while it was still under warranty so... Your choice on what you believe really. However, I think it's good that they're actually trying to fix their product in the next iteration instead of just making it larger and faster.

Damnn they need to chill and slow down. Wait a while before releasing another one. Also atleast they are fixing flaws. SGS6 ftw

It will never happen. They are making mad money on every product they release.
