Confirmed: competitive Call of Duty is ditching Xbox One for PS4

After some speculation, Treyarch confirmed that competitive Call of Duty has switched over to PlayStation.

When Activision announced that starting this year, PlayStation owners will be the ones getting Call of Duty will DLC early, some fans – especially those who follow or participate in the eSports end – were not sure what to think.

On one hand, the switch means more people will get access to Call of Duty’s pro scene, based on the PlayStation 4 sales numbers. On the other hand, things like competitive play and MLG have relied on Xbox consoles for as long as the game has been relative in the scene, and switching consoles now would require a lot logistical work that can be avoided.

It appears that when Sony said PlayStation is the new home of Call of Duty, they meant it. During last night’s Black Ops 3 livestream, which focused on eSports, Treyarch’s David Vonderhaar confirmed that the pro scene will all switch to PS4.

Imagine that. The Call of Duty Championships will be decorated with blue colours instead of green.

I really dislike PlayStation but after hearing all of this... I MIGHT go buy a PS4. just to get play the DLCs first lol

I didn't think competitive Call of Duty was going to switch, Shoot since they are might have to try and get into competitive now lol. I do enjoy playing ranked play on AW.

Coincidentally I just switched over to PS4. Might have to end up getting Black Ops 3 after hearing this.

Competitive Cod was on PS3 back in Black Ops so it isn't a huge switch.


Yeah but now all the pros are going to have to switch and from what i know switching controllers is a hard thing to do.

I know, i don't even think it can be comp anymore. Just not the same as the old games.


Lol I know, the prize pools are just soo much bigger than they used to be, and the fanbase has just multiplied. That's why it's not the same, it's got bigger, it's improved. Just because you're no longer a fan it doesn't mean that it's bad in any way.
