Crackdown 3 destruction is multiplayer-only

4.6
Crackdown 3’s impressive-looking destruction will be limited to multiplayer, but some of it can be found in single-player.

Crackdown 3 showed up on Microsoft’s gamescom 2015 stage earlier this week. The demo shown was very short, but the behind-closed-doors one wasn’t, and it gave us a much better look at its brand of destruction.

Because the game is using Microsoft’s servers to power most of the calculations for this destruction tech, you’ll naturauly need an online connection for that. It’s a good idea then that developer Reagent didn’t force everyone to play the game online, and kept this fantastic tech to the online component.

“Yes, [destruction is] exclusive to the multiplayer mode. You have to be online for multiplayer, and at that point we can connect to the cloud and really expand the experience,” Dave Jones told IGN at gamescom.

Jones later confirmed what everyone believed, that the single-player won’t sport this level of destruction. One of the reasons is Crackdown’s gameplay itself, which relies on collectibles, scaling buildings and other activities that would not exist if everything was destructible.

Crackdown 3’s single-player will as a result be playable offline, and will retain some form of destructible environment, just not on the scale of multiplayer.

UZl I knew there was a catch. Sucks there will not be destruction on single player, if it has any, only online.
I might still enjoy though

Most games now a days have a catch bro

Im sure there will be a online as lots of games released normally have some sort of online gameplay.

If there isnt then i think they are definately losing out

Hall_Moniter Didnt like the first two games, probobly wont get this one

Honestly I didn't like them either but this ones looks sick.
Feels like a whole different game to me, I might check it out.

Two had me lost a bit, but they have fixed a lot of those issues in this one it seems. It's a buy from me.

Yeah the whole destructible environments had me right away.

-it- I enjoyed the first two cracked downs, I doubt I will like this one, But its not hard to give it a try.

If you liked the first two what makes you think you wont like the 3rd installment? Its looks amazing!

It looks way better than the first 2. I didn't enjoy the 2nd one, and I think this one looks sick.

Seto i agree with everyone saying this is odd and it would normally be the other way around, i usually dislike online on this game, i tend to stick to single player, maybe this is for a reason and there will be other multiplayer features that are really cool too

If you and everyone else who said it's odd actually understood how this worked (or read the article) you wouldn't think it's odd at all.
