Microsoft Will Reveal a Remodeled Xbox One Soon

4.6
Xbox One is not a handy piece of hardware. It is huge, bulky, and rather ugly -- so much so that the console was mockingly compared to a VCR from the 1980s.

It's not that Microsoft purposelessly made the Xbox One humongous. The bulky design helps the console function better, especially after the Red Ring of Death cases with the Xbox 360 -- a technical fault that could damage the console beyond repair. Another advantage of the bulky size is that the Xbox One does not heat up as quickly as Sony's PS4.

However, shelf space does matter, and the size of the console is an issue for users, especially travelers. To make matters worse, the console comes with a "power brick" that takes up even more space.

Although redesigned models are usually released after a gap of four to five years, it seems like Microsoft will release a remodeled console earlier than expected. Netflix's chief product officer, Neil Hunt, stated in February that Sony and Microsoft had promised them a new hardware, which would support Netflix's 4K content.

Cost is also an issue that could prompt Microsoft to change its design. Even the slightest of details matter when developing the design for a console; these decisions can affect the cost model of companies as well. Microsoft may look toward the opportunity of lowering its cost by reducing the material required to produce its consoles.

Nevertheless, one thing that could hinder Microsoft's release of a new design soon is the Hololens. It is still unknown whether Hololens will be an essential part of Xbox One, but if it is, Microsoft may want to release a model that requires no extension in order to take input from the Hololens.

All in all, given that Microsoft is becoming more and more consumer-friendly, a compact design for its bulky console seems highly likely.

Hopefully the new version comes in a smaller size and a replaceable hard drive, that would be awesome.

A new one already :/ only just got this one... Guessing it's gonna have 1tb, it needs it, the hard drive is way to small, I've ran out of space already :/

Waterfalls ya its ugly but to buy a new one only 2 years after release is dumb imo

I haven't bought one yet so I'll probably wait for the new version.

Atleast they're trying. Right? I mean all this will do is get a few more people to buy it.

It doesn't affect me too much since I already have my Xbox One, but I am interested to see what the remodeled Xbox Ones will look like once it's revealed.

So I spent £400 on this console, and now there gonna release a new one to make mine look outdated. Damn that's annoying.

Hei Who actually gives a **** about size and shape? The Xbox One looks damn better than my Huge Unfancy PC tower. **** I feel like the whole ugly Xbox One was started by Playstation fanboys trying to belittle Xbox One even more...

Well as stated in the post, it isn't ideal for people who travel with it a lot.

In all fairness, if something looked terrible, I would doubt someone would buy it over something that looked amazing.

The thing is that the Xbox One needs to have a redesign to combat portability and improve other aspects but still keep a nice look.

Its a console, not a mobile platform. If you want it to look better than go buy some glitter at your local hobby shop and get creative.

thats the point of a console you can throw it and the controllers in a bag and go over to a friends plug it in the tv and your good. a tower is ment to never move.

For the record, i have the gaems sentry unit and with it my xbone is just as portable as my ps4 or 360 or whatever.

I probably won't invest in one of these unless it's real good. If it is an compact design that does get me interested but I'm not sure.
