Payday 2 will have another two years of support

Starbreeze, the Swedish studio and owners of Payday 2 developer Overkill, has announced that it’s extended its collaboration with 505 Games for another 24 months. The deal will provide funds for further development of Payday 2, meaning another two years of DLC expansions.

505 Games’ parent company Digital Bros gain 2.67% of Starbreeze stock as part of the agreement, which commences on April 1st 2015.

“We’ve said that we’ll never stop making Payday and the board is extremely happy to see where the franchise is today,” read a statement from Starbreeze chairman Michael Hjorth. “The strategic partnership with 505 Games continues to strengthen us and the Payday investment alone doubles down on our previous spend. We will yet again see the Payday franchise being expanded with more heists, weapons, characters and even new game modes such as driving cars.”

“Payday as a franchise is here to stay and with it we are building a solid financial foundation for the company for years to come.”

Further statements came from Overkill’s website, where Payday 2’s producer Almir Listo said: “We love working on Payday 2 and look forward taking care of our game for two more years, making new free updates, paid DLCs and awesome campaigns together with the community.”
