Limited edition PS1-style PS4 console announced

Sony has announced a limited edition version of the PS4 featuring the original PlayStation's colour scheme.

Priced at €499 / £399 in Europe, the PS4 20th Anniversary Edition sports a grey finish just like that of the PSone.

A release date has yet to be confirmed, but PlayStation Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said on PS Blog that the console will be available in strictly limited quantities, with just 12,300 units available worldwide.

It will be packaged in a commemorative box and will come with a DualShock 4 controller and PlayStation Camera, each also re-coloured PlayStation grey. The touch pad on the DualShock 4 will also sport a 20th Anniversary pattern.


"Given this very limited production run, the 20th Anniversary Edition will not be available via traditional retail channels in the SCEE region," Yoshida said. "Look out for more information soon on how you can get your hands on one of these highly collectable consoles."

In the US and Canada, PS4 20th Anniversary Edition "will be available in very limited supply" for pre-order starting this Saturday, December 6, Yoshida wrote on the US PS Blog. "Please watch the PlayStation Experience keynote starting Saturday morning at 10:00am Pacific Time to learn more."

Wow, I remeber the Ps1 not quite my first console but a memorable one, even though I play Xbox 1 the most I may get one of these...

This is Bullshit, the PS1 was my first console and I was really considering buying one of these.

Also I am not throwing 650 dollars at a console again, already did that with the X1.

That is amazing, I remember playing the PSone, and loved it. I am an xbox player now but I might get this for memories.

I went PS1,PS2,Xbox OG, Xbox 360,had a PS3, an I love my Xbox One. But I want both consoles and this might be the one I get.
