The PS4 version released in early September after a slight delay from the certification process. Unlike the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions, it released without the ability for users to transfer their saved worlds from previous-gen to current-gen.
4J Studios handled console porting duties for the popular procedurally generated open-world game. Both PS3 and Xbox 360 Minecraft owners were offered a reduced price for purchasing PS4 or Xbox One counterparts.
Users can transfer their worlds by navigating to the saves list on the PS3 version, selecting the desired world, and pressing R1 to bring up Save Options.
Minecraft developer Mojang announced earlier this week that it would be purchased by Microsoft for $2.5 billion.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed that the company will continue to support all of Minecraft's currently released versions.
