Why GTA 5 will be delayed on PC

4.7
Last week, Rockstar finally revealed the release date of the new-gen versions of GTA 5. Much to the letdown of many PC fans, the developer announced that the PC version will arrive just over two months later than its PS4 and Xbox One counterparts.

Rockstar today however provided an -albeit usual- explanation for the delay. The developer posted a reply on the official blog to the fans wondering about the PC version delay.

“We’re glad to see so many of you are excited for the upcoming release of the new versions of GTAV and we look forward to sharing more details with you soon. We are also incredibly excited to be bringing GTAV to the PC, but the game requires a little more development time in order to ensure that it is as amazing and polished as possible. Please do stay tuned as we reveal new features and information about all the new versions in the weeks ahead,” the reply read.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions will arrive November 18, with the PC version arriving January 27.

Gigahertz Can't complain if they're delaying it to make it better. Just aslong as it doesn't end up as DayZ Standalone.

The game is not even "officially" released. It is still in Alpha.

EarI There trying to not let us put mods on it ;)

They have links on their site to featured mods for GTA IV. So I can't see this being the case. I think it's more to make sure to port is better this time. As the IV port was terribad.

I'm pretty sure Rockstar doesn't care about PC mods, as I think they promoted a video once from GTA IV that included mods. Most gaming companies I've seen don't care about single player PC mods, and even encourage it.

It reeeeaally sucks that it's delayed even more for the PC because I was really excited(still am) to get this game on PC but as long as it's only delayed for them to make sure it works fine, I suppose it will be worth it. I'm kind of glad to see they're taking time to perfect it, rather than rushing it out.

Plus, GTA V mods on PC are going to be OMGWOW.

Polygon I'm glad that it's coming out later.
It means more stuff!

Hopefully they'll add loads more cars, (obviously improve graphics), more pedestrians, more particles and just general more things!

Hopefully, there has to be a good reason they're releasing it at a later time than the other versions of the game. I'm just ready to play it on PC already.

I can't wait to get this for my Ps4! The pc version will be so sweet though I'm gonna have to grab it to!

Sage They are probably trying to find a way to stop it from getting hacked out of its mind

I'd doubt it. Modding was a key part to GTA 4 which expanded upon the game far beyond what Rockstar were willing to deliver.
I would more expect Rockstar to create a modding tool rather than restricting them all.
