Twitch confirms sale to Amazon for $970 million

Amazon.com will purchase video game streaming service Twitch for approximately $970 million in cash. There you go, streamers. Happy? It wasn't Google!

"Like Twitch, we obsess over customers and like to think differently, and we look forward to learning from them and helping them move even faster to build new services for the gaming community," said Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos as part of today's announcement.

Twitch CEO Emmett Shear added, "Being part of Amazon will let us do even more for our community. We will be able to create tools and services faster than we could have independently. This change will mean great things for our community, and will let us bring Twitch to even more people around the world."

The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2014.

6 one, half a dozen another. They will end up changing things around that the users of Twitch did not want changed around and then people will get all mad about it.

Yeah exactly, $970 million in cash is worth more than over $1 billion in stocks.

I cant remember the company but something sold for around 50 million dollars and ended up being worth about $8 million a few months later.

We already saw how Youtube turned out and that wasn't good.
