Xbox boss wants Tomb Raider to be the Xbox One’s Uncharted

Phil Spencer had admitted that Xbox needs an action-adventure game as good as Sony’s Uncharted franchise, and he hopes that tying up exclusivity for Rise of the Tomb Raider will fill that hole.

Eurogamer asked if the deal was to ensure that Xbox had something to compete with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in 2015: “Totally. I’m a big fan of Uncharted and I wish we had an action adventure game of that ilk,” said Spencer. “We’ve started some, and we’ve looked at them. But we don’t have one today of that quality. This is an opportunity.”

The exact nature of the exclusivity deal was unclear when Microsoft announced it at gamescom last week, but it now seems that Rise of the Tomb Raider will eventually be free to go to other platforms, the Xbox exclusivity lasting for “a duration.” How long that duration is remains unclear.

Uncharted is a great game so I could see why he would want Tomb Raider to be like it. But I can already kind of see the similarities between both of those games. They remind me of one another.

DeluxeHazard Tomb Raider might be able to be the Xbox version of Uncharted.

I feel as if that it is already there. It is a great game and I would say that it at least levels with Uncharted.

To be honest, i would pick Tomb Raider over Uncharted any day so i think it would be a nice replacement.

I'll admit tomb raider is great. But Uncharted is really amazing, played it over a buddy's on PS3. I think if they put a lot of effort into Tomb Raider then it possibly could be.

Tomb Raider is a great game . No Denying. But Uncharted is a World class game . its a pity its only on the PlayStation. If it had been made for both consoles it would be loved my both XBOX and PlayStation. However they do have similarity's ... In Uncharted, Nathan Drake raids tombs and ancient landmarks. Tomb Raider also raids ancient tombs and landmarks. But Xbox making this an Exclusive even though its been on PlayStation as well through its long years . Just so xbox can make it the "Uncharted" of xbox.. I d say that move is low.
Naughty Dog are making (from what we hear) the last Uncharted Game. (And if they do continue it then it will be someone new ) So it would be a tad late to start competing against it. I can see it being big on Xbox.. but not as big as Uncharted. and Tomb raider would have a lot more interest if it had been on both consoles ..never mind sold a lot more. But i hope this move really works out. and i hope that Naughty Dog have something new up there sleeve. Cause then they will have something to go up against.
