Xbox Live July Games with Gold Announced

4.3
Earlier in the year, Microsoft proudly announced that their free Games with Gold program for Xbox Live subscribers would be rolling out to Xbox One users -- and in June, the console received its first series of games, including 'Halo: Spartan Assault' (and a set of new offerings for Xbox 360 users, like 'Dark Souls' and 'Max: The Curse of Brotherhood'). Now, Microsoft is swapping out its free games for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and tossing in some popular titles on both platforms to boot.

Xbox One users will only get one new game in July: 'Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition' is available starting on July 1st, and it will replace last month's offering of 'Halo: Spartan Assault'. 'Guacamelee!' is an action platformer where you play as a "humble agave farmer" turned luchador from Mexico who tries to save the president's daughter after she is kidnapped by a marauding skeleton horseman. Since only one new game is being offered for Xbox One users, last month's free game, 'Max: The Curse of Brotherhood', is still available for free download until the end of July.

Xbox 360 users will receive two new free games this month: On July 1st, 'Gotham City Impostors' will be available for download. The game is a multiplayer FPS set in the DC universe, with a range of customizable character features. On July 15th, Xbox 360 users can download 'BattleBlock Theater', a highly acclaimed block-based platformer from The Behemoth, who are most famously known for developing 'Alien Hominid' and 'Castle Crashers'.

Although Xbox One owners may be be disappointed that they'll only receive one new game this month, hopefully Microsoft will begin expanding its catalog of Xbox One games significantly enough to offer a full range of free games in the coming months.

I heard these games weren't very good

Nice the xbox one gets 1 crappy game typical somewhere down the line though it would be awesome to see out last coming to games with gold that would make the whole thing worth it for me

Damn! I was hoping for L4D2 or Far Cry 3 this month. Very disappointing lineup indeed. A shame after June was so good.

I can't wait for these games to come out! It looks like a good game. But I may be wrong.

They really are scraping the barrel now. I have not downloaded a game for months now because they have all been horse shit. The only decent game we got was sleeping dogs.

I played gotham city impostors the other day but I had the game for like 2 years now, it's cool they're releasing it for free now more people will be online and my friends an get the game and play it with me.

I'm still hoping that Microsoft actually adds in popular games like Sony does. Everyone dishes out so much money each year for everything, the lest they can do us give us games we actually want to play.

Heir This is nice! Excited about Gotham City Imposters. Got Battleblock already though.

Same here! Really excited for it!

I'm hoping the games for the Xbox 360 will be fun. I have heard of Gotham City Imposters but have never played it. I have never heard of BattleBlock Theater, but based on what people are saying it seems like it is a good game.
