Starting in June XBL Gold subs can request a refund

4.6
Microsoft has announced that they intent to start providing refunds to those who are currently paid Xbox Live Gold subscribers and wish to revert to gold if they only use entertainment applications now not behind the golden paywall. Gamers who wish to cancel and get a refund have until August 31st 2014 to ask Microsoft for a return on their membership.

Once the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates become available in June, Xbox Live Gold members who purchased a paid membership before that day can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused remaining days between the date of cancellation and the date their paid Gold membership ends,” reads the updated FAQ.

Cancellation and pro-rata refund requests require six to eight weeks for processing. Free or trial Gold memberships are not eligible for a refund.Microsoft

YhCHKN I'd say the majority of people pay for gold to play online...
It's nice that MS are doing this :D

Than theirs people that buy it just to use the apps, which isn't fair.

Good that they're doing this.

I doubt many people get gold purely for those features anyway, but I suppose thats a nice idea. Maybe if your planning your Xbox, you could just do it to get some money back?

Oasis Ah that's nice of them. Except who's buying gold just for those features?? No one.

I basically was. I only really use Twitch, Netflix and YouTube on my Xbox 360. Now and then I play some games with friends.

OT > It's nice to see this happening, I won't do my sub again now it's all free. I'll just use 2/7 days trials now and then if I'm in the mood to play something with a friend.
