PlayStation Now beta adds rental options

4.4
The PlayStation Now beta has been updated to include game rental options, IGN reports.

As previously rumoured, the service will let users stream rented titles for one, seven or 30 days, although prices have yet to be confirmed. Alternatively, users will be able to pay for full PS Now library access via a yet to be revealed subscription fee.

The following games have also been added to the PS Now beta:

Ben Omniverse 2
Contrast
Eat Them!
Fuel
Grid
Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear
Lumines Supernova
Nights Into Dreams
PixelJump Racers 2nd Lap
PixelJunk Shooter 2
Puppeteer
Retro/Grade
Sniper Elite V2
Revealed at CES in January, PS Now will initially stream PS3 games (other platforms to follow) to PlayStation systems, Bravia TVs and, in the future, other Sony and non-Sony devices.

Sony will launch the service in North America this summer. It has been reported that the PS Now European launch won't occur until the first quarter of 2015.

For a "low latency, high-quality gaming experience", Sony recommends that PS Now users have at least a 5Mbps connection.

I have had PlayStation Now, for a little bit now. And I have tried it out, and I really like this feature.

Vauxhall This is actually a really good idea surprised it has not been done before

The reason it hasn't been done before is due to most consoles being released with backwards compatibility. Xbox 360 only did some but still great and popular games like Halo 2 and PS3 (1st version) played most PS2 games if I'm correct. (Never had a ps3 until slim). There's now a want of the classic games and Sony is delivering (with a price of course).

They will make so much from this! I would rent games, and could easily complete them within 7 days! Great idea!

Video game rentals digitally is a great idea for both companies.

Someones going to figure out a way to keep the games free forever. Then it'll be put on YouTube the next day. Then patched 2 hours after being uploading. Then of course I will miss it :P

I'm really enjoying the thought of this service but i highly doubt anyone is going to use it until they get a half decent library of games to play from.

Wish I still had a PS3 to try this out. Hopefully I'll get a PS4 by the time it's released in the summer.
