Xbox One system update rolling out today

Microsoft has confirmed it will roll out the new Xbox One system update throughout the day.

According to a post on the Major Nelson blog, the update will begin rolling out "tonight" in the United States and the UK, and today in Australia.

The updates include a new progress bar to track game and app save states, notifications for newly signed in friends and favourites, Kinect voice and motion improvements as well as improved GameDVR video quality.

The full notes:

Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently.

Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This was one of the most frequently requested features, so we made it a priority to include it in this update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list.

Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to be fine-tuned for quality and reliability of Xbox One commands. For example, we've updated some of the gesture functionality to reduce false positives on non-hand objects triggering gesture commands.

Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements.

Blu-ray player supports 50 Hz video output for content recorded at 50 Hz. We'll also be updating the Blu-ray Player app in the coming days to round out these improvements.

Controller and headset adaptor firmware updates will reduce audio static and improve wireless connectivity.

Silent reboot after system updates and system update on demand now available. If your console is in Instant On mode, the update will happen automatically and return to standby upon completion. This means you won't need to power on your console after an update moving forward. If you want to take future updates when available without waiting for your console to do it on its own, we've added this option under system settings and you'll be able to use it next update. It will only show as available when there is an update to take.

TitanFall I don't understand how people complain about Microsoft updating the xbox one it really does baffle me dunno if its sony ponies or what

I haven't seen a single person complain about this...

"Showing friends signing in should have been there from the start "
"That friends notification should have been in there from the start."

I would class that as a complaints to be honest, also this isn't the first xbox update thread that people have complained on.

Eh that is more of an opinion, but oh well.

yes it may not of been perfect to start in your eye's, but do remember a big chunk of gamers only play single player and some dont even own xbox live, so just because you think its not to your standard dosent mean its bad for others.

personally i think this is the best thing about the xbox one, the ask what the community want and they do it ! an update every month is a big task and yet they are willing to do it !

also i would like to say that alot people are wanting feature's from the xbox 360 back but yet that is just making this console like the 360. tbh i prefer the new interface. i hated when i was playing a game of fifa then some one popped up online which blocked the map at the bottom ! it always got in the way which is why I appeared busy alot of the time. this is just my opinion and my experience, i would love to hear what you guys think ;)

If you didn't like the notifications popping up on 360 than you could've of turned them off. I'm assuming they'll do that same thing with one

Linx I can't wait for this update

It's not that great of an update tbh

It's a normal thing they should of had at the start, nothing huge

Woot notifications finally. I don't see the reasoning in removing the notifications.
