Xbox 360 system update released

Microsoft has begun rolling out a new Xbox 360 system update, according to various online accounts.

Xbox Live director of programming Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb said of the system update on Monday:

(1/2) An #Xbox360 update hits as early as tomorrow, mostly back end stuff— Larry Hryb (@majornelson) April 1, 2014

(2/2) Start an #XboxVideo rental on Xbox 360 & pick it up on another platform. That's one of the only new features.— Larry Hryb (@majornelson) April 1, 2014

Despite Microsoft switching focus to Xbox One in the run-up to the console's November 2013 release, Xbox chief marketing and strategy officer Yusuf Mehdi said last September that the company will continue to support Xbox 360 for years to come.

"If you look at Xbox 360 that platform [has] lasted for seven to eight years and it's going to go for another three years," he said. "We are going to continue to invest in Xbox 360 and the two devices can work in concert. In fact, we are going to ship over 100 new games on Xbox 360, so you will still be able to play your games, just not on the same exact box."

The next high-profile Xbox 360 game is Titanfall, which was originally scheduled to launch in March alongside Xbox One and PC versions. Following two delays, the Xbox 360 Titanfall release date has now been confirmed as April 8 in North America and April 11 in Europe.

Pics It's great that they still care for the xbox 360! More players are on the 360 anyway! I'm also pumped for Titanfall, I've seen some reviews and game plays of that game and I personally like it better than Call of Duty!

The gameplay is either xbox one or pc anf u cant like a game better then another if u havnt played it. Thry need to cut out 360 and ps3 so we can move on to more graphical and technical srand points in gaming support the online for 360 but shutdoen game making. Games should feel next gen not being watered down by old tech. And for today's standards a 360 can fit in a iphone (minus disc tray)

YunoGasai Well, its nice to see they aren't forgetting the Xbox 360 just because the Xbox One came out.

Why would they? More people still play 360 than the one.

I am really happy to see that they are still not throwing this console to the side and are still keeping it fresh. Some cannot afford the Almighty PS4, or the PC master race, or regular xbox one.

It's good to see that there still updating the 360. That's great for people who hasn't made the switch to next-gen, or PC.

SmackedControllers That sucks that they are getting rid of xbox 360 in three years.. I guess that means we will all have to buy the xbox one..

They aren't getting rid of the 360 in 3 years, that's just their estimate of when it's popularity will diminish.

Nope. They are stopping production of 360 games then I believe, I could be wrong though

Well you can't blame em. The 360 is like 7 or 8 years old.
