Minecraft on Xbox One 'really close'

Mojang said to be "excited about the quality" of the next-gen version

The Xbox One version of Minecraft will launch soon, according to Microsoft Game Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer.

Announced at E3 in June 2013, the Xbox One edition will build off the multi-million selling Xbox 360 version with "larger maps for more complex structures, expanded multiplayer features and enhanced gameplay".

Xbox executive Spencer told IGN at GDC last week: "I talked to [4J Studios] last night. They feel really good about the progress that they're making. It's their game, and it'd be Mojang's game. We graciously host it on our platform.

"They control the [release] date of that, but I'll tell people that we're getting really close. I talked with Notch [aka Mojang founder Markus Persson] last night, and they're really excited about the quality."

In December 2013, Minecraft creator Persson said the Xbox 360 edition of the game had sold around ten million copies.

Minecraft is also currently in development for PS4 and Vita, while a proposed Oculus Rift version was scrapped earlier this week.

-Mark I have always preferred Minecraft on PC over the console. I enjoy using all the texture packs and playing on servers that have plugins.

I will still probably purchase Minecraft for the Xbox One though.

The PC version will always have a lot more perks than the console versions do, but I still enjoy the 360 version and I'll most likely purchase it on the One.

JRJ Minecraft is so boring. I don't see how people can play this so much! I got bored after the first 2 weeks with it.

Nice imagination buddy!

For me, I usually stick to creative mode and just build whatever I think of. It seems to be boring for those without a good imagination or creative mind though, lol.

Well if you have other people who are good builders and what not it can be fun.

Third_Eye Minecraft on PS Vita sounds like it would be the funnest out of them all. Like the mobile version(s), but with real buttons and probably using the full game.

Axe If you bought the game for the 360, will you have to re-purchase it again for the Xbox One? If so, then im not really interested in spending another 30$ or so on the same game.

Agreed. I would like to know as well.

Well someones has to pay for the development of the new version of the game. Sure they have a lot of money but there where is their motivation to continue to develop the game if no one pays for the upcoming release?
This is my thought exactly. Of course their won't be any cross-buy because they put work into bringing it Next-Gen. They put money into it and will need money out of it. Asking for Xbox 360 to Xbox One cross buy is like buying it on the PC then complaining to don't get it for free on the PS3,X1, and 360.

Wavelength I hope Minecraft is cross-buy supported.

I'm thinking we might get a discount because just like Ghost we handed it in and payed $10.00 for next gen version.

Hopefully they do something similar, I don't feel like paying $20 for the game again.
