Microsoft promises its E3 conference will focus heavily on games

4.7
The big hullaboo of E3 draws ever nearer and as everyone eagerly awaits another year's worth of announcements for the big event, we're starting to get some idea of Microsoft's presence at the annual expo.

Good ol' Phil Spencer has been chatting on Twitter (as spotted by CVG), and he answered a question directed to him about the conference by confirming that this year's MS showing will be more game focused with "very few execs". Phil also mentions how they already have so much stuff that MS are having to move stuff out of their 90-minute slot during the show.

Phil's also been speaking a little bit more at GDC after his comments earlier in the week about ID@Xbox

On the recent trend in VR headsets in the wake of the Oculus Rift and Sony announcing their own Project Morpheus Eurogamer reports he said:
"One of the things we have is this huge Microsoft research organisation that is important to us as platform holders in helping us think what might came next. That's where Kinect came from, it's where voice recognition came from, it's where Drivatar came from."

"Looking at things like Oculus, Morpheus - they haven't sent me one yet, but maybe they will - when I think about VR and the uses of it in gaming, I think there's a real "there" there"

Do you want to see a VR headset at the Xbox E3 event this year? If not, what else would you like to see? Let us know in the comments.

Axe Good to hear... I might go to E3 this year with a few friends.

That has always been something I want to do

You have to be professionally related to the industry. In other words if your FULL TIME JOB is not somehow in relation to the industry then you cannot attend. Also you must be 17 years of age and I know for a fact the majority of this site is not.

There are some passes handed out every year for those not in the industry. Getting them is another question though.

This is from E3's website FAQ.

Is E3 Open to the public?
No, E3 is not open to the general public. E3 is a trade event and only professionals from the interactive entertainment industry will be allowed to attend. Individuals who are not able to document their direct and current professional affiliation to the interactive entertainment industry are not qualified to attend E3.

Please tell us where you heard of these passes.

They are given out from companies, sometimes auctioned off. It's extremely limited and stupid in my opinion to pay for it, when you can watch it online if you want.

Hopefully they'll announce a brand new gears of war. For the Xbox one.

daRealRush They need to focus on games, last year. The only thing they focused on, was Television.

They have always heavily focused on games, they had to show the tv aspects and apps too, and they did at the console reveal. Since the console reveal all it's been about is games. Obviously you do not follow technology news.

I am talking about the console reveal. I didn't watch E3, so I didn't know what they did there. Honestly, I didn't care what they did during E3, because they had that DRM on the console, so I didn't care about the Xbox One. I was more concerned with the PS4.

I'm happy about this, it seems like there's a lot of good games that are coming out sometime in the near future and they should be focused on there.
