Activision won’t reverse Call of Duty:Ghosts ban wave

4.3
Reports are surfacing of a massive ban wave that appears to be primarily targeting PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 users playing Call of Duty: Ghosts.

While many of the bans are no doubt justified, some users are claiming bans have been issued to them through error and are hoping to resolve the mistake.

User “tcsdaniels” wrote a lengthy post on the official Call of Duty: Ghosts forums explaining his situation, saying that he and his son have been permanently banned – revealed MP1ST.

“After a bit of research and reviewing the past week or so of the games my son and I played, we believe the innocent players that did not either back out of a hacked lobby (due to not knowing) or were automatically placed into one are getting banned,” he wrote.

“My son and I are clueless when it comes to most of it. Over the last week we did come to an agreement that we were losing a lot more than normal but we just contributed that to the assumption we were just getting placed with better people.

“We are more often then not the lowest scoring people every round we play and that should not be a reason to ban people and their console’s.”

Also Reddit user “wuzzup” states, “I too, have been permanently banned. I play maybe a couple hours/week and have never done anything against the code of conduct,”

Activision support responded to the claims, explaining that “bans are put in place after an account has been investigated into. Any code of conduct violations WILL result in a ban. The user is responsible for all actions taken on the account.”

“All bans are final and will not be reversed. Nor do we provide any additional information or specifics in regards to the ban,” the response continued.

Aaron a gamer from Dublin, Ireland has called for an increase in transparency in Infinity Ward and Activisions’ banning practices via a petition, writing that “this isn’t about the guilt or innocence of any individual player. This is about a fair, transparent process.”

Thankfully, it appears that things are starting to look up for some users.

“themidnightsociety” reports that some users have had luck getting their bans lifted. “It seems as if someone has been listening to us because I just checked my account on COD Ghosts and my permanent ban and console ban has been lifted and everything is back to how it was before the ban,” the user writes.

daRealRush According to the post, it seems to be happening mostly on the PS3, and PS4. Now I wonder why this is, is it because they have a contract with Microsoft? Could be, or is it the fact that they are a very bad company. That could also be it. But if I was to receive a ban, that I shouldn't have got. Then they will never see me getting another Call of Duty ever again. I would rather give 40 dollars to gamestop then to buy another Call of Duty. But if I was to receive a ban, I would be selling my copy of Ghosts online somewhere.

Lmao its happening more on playstation is easily hacked/modded..

Xbox only gets modded for a short time then patched then only a few keep the bypass to themselves.. playstation is trash lmao

Your point is invalid. First off, how is PlayStation easily hacked. There are more people with a JTAGed Xbox 360, then there are hackers on the PS3. Now I don't know about PS4, and Xbox One. I personally haven't seen anybody hacking on them two consoles. But on the Xbox 360, there is so many people with JTAG's. I mean look on Modern Warfare 1,World at War, MW2, and Black Ops 1. I ain't trying to hate on the Xbox, I have an Xbox 360 myself, and I play it on a regular basis. But, I am just trying to lay down the facts. There is more modders/hackers on the Xbox 360 than PS3.

Just cause one guy had 20+ jtagged 360s doesn't mean there are more( random youtube guy) I know 0 irl friends with jtags and about 20 or so with modded Playstations.. Im pretty sure ps has more hackers because its easier to do as where xbox is harder. Just my 2 cents

companys need to realize they do make mistakes and there will be people they banned by mistake they need to stepup and make sure they are actually looking thru these

This is your **** fault Activision, if you stopped rushing the devs, they would have more time to make a more secure game meaning that there would be less cheaters, meaning that there would less accidental bans. Not impressed

The game got exploited at release, I'm surprised that they are trying to fix this crappy game in the first place.

TYBGPosted:

Wow this is just sad. How is this a fair process if your banning the wrong people??

-Beattie-Posted:

No wonder their game is going down the drain. Its a disgrace that people pay 45 for a game and maybe more for DLC and then are unfairly banned from playing the game.

RinPosted:

I can understand profile bans but console bans? That's a bit too extreme for just going a a modded lobby. Even if it wasn't an innocent.

OasisPosted:

Why would Activision ever give full details of the anti-cheat systems, that would only allow more people to exploit the game.

But it would be good for all games to at least give some more details when issuing bans.

Getting in a hidden lobby then getting banned is far from being justified I think they should focus on how the game is played now over a time frame of a couple of weeks then check stats and win rate etc then make a decision on who to ban.
