Xbox One Twitch app reported to have 1280x720 streaming video

4.4
A new report claims that the upcoming Twitch app update for Microsoft's Xbox One console will not only add the ability to stream live gameplay, but it will do so at a higher resolution and bitrate than the current version found on Sony's PlayStation 4 console.

A Reddit post from user "rotj" links to a stats page for the Xbox One Twitch app, which recorded information from the stream of Microsoft's own Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb. The stats show that the Xbox One Twitch update will stream live gameplay at a resolution of 1280x720 compared to 960x540 for the current PS4 version. In addition, the bitrate for the Xbox One is close to 2.7Mbps, compared to 1.7Mbps for the PS4. Both display at 30 FPS.

The Reddit post also says that the Twitch app will allow for Xbox One users to archive any gameplay video stream they create, something that the PS4 cannot do at the moment. People who broadcast game streams will be able to see viewer and chat stats without displaying those numbers to the public. It also won't broadcast audio from any group chats.

The Twitch app is scheduled to be updated on March 11th, the same day as the Xbox One version of the long awaited first person shooter Titanfall is to be released.

FouLR 720 seems to be the same as 1080.

Not a problem.

Brandownage27 It doesn't really matter in the long run. If you aren't partnered with twitch, your resolution won't come up as more than 480p.

True... But I see stream at 1080p all the time and they aren't partnered with Twitch. Is this not the same thing?

Well yeh it is but let's just see what they have to bring to the table.

Twitch is becoming very popular now :) it's good to see live streams rather than pre made video's

Looks really cool on how you can broadcast.
I don't have an Xbox One but it will be nice to see what it looks like watching someone stream from it.
