Free games on Gold will be coming to Xbox One shortly, and unlike Xbox, you cannot play these games on the PS4 if your PS+ expires. However the free games on Xbox are unconditionally yours upon download.

They don't get it for "free". They have to pay for ps+ to play the game. When their subscription ends. They cannot play any of the "free" games.

They are doing this for gold membership members of Xbox but unfortunately not the xbox one
