Microsoft Denies $399 Disc-Less Xbox One

3.8
Earlier this month, during a massive spill of Xbox One details, the $399 Xbox One with no disc drive, as well as a limited edition Titanfall console were among the juiciest leaks. The accompanying images made the leak seem pretty legit, and a senior publishing source later confirmed the rumor.

But now Greenberg, Chief of Staff for Devices and Studios Group at Microsoft, has firmly squashed that rumor. While it may still be true that Microsoft was working on such a console, it looks like we won't be seeing it, at least for a while. Stating in a response to a question about the console's existence,
"No, you cannot believe everything you read on the internet..."

Industry analyst Michael Pachter said that a cheaper Xbox One with no disc-drive would be "Dumb, dumb, dumb," when commenting on the rumor, and so it seems Microsoft has come to the same conclusion.amazingly fast internet, so I would jump on a deal like this, but it does seem like it would only appeal to a very specific market.

Potion I don't see why not, Microsoft could make a killing off of this. Because people with good internet could just download all there games.

I agree, I already download my games on demand on the one. I don't know why people still like disc, it the future yo and not the past. I don't know why would you get a next gen console if you don't have good internet.

You make no sense. First of all the games are considerably cheaper on disc and they don't use up nearly half as much space on your HDD

The only problem here is if you get banned all your games = Gone, and we all know Microsoft doesn't care about if your banned or not

They should really make this. Even though this is something that they announced in the beginning and everyone flipped crap. I would have purchased this console.

CrashBandicoot Discless will be good because when peoe knock there Xbox over then they won't get that ring around there disc

This has happened to me on two occasions on the 360 but I don't think it'll ever happen on the Xbox One since you have to have the console horizontally placed.

-Inq i think its good because why would you want a disc less xbox

Some people enjoy the easy accessibility of downloading a game online rather than buying it at the store. Plus it is fairly fast to download games if you have a good internet plan and with the Xbox One you can play games before the download is even half way complete.

Third_Eye That's a wrap, folks.

Spot TTG why would you post this then? You have any idea how dumb this makes you guys look?

They share the fact that the rumor is spreading, then they share the fact that Microsoft denies the claim the rumor made. Whoever wrote the article never said it's true. It clearly stated rumor.

TheTechGame shares rumors and facts. At the time everyone thought it was fact, but we knew it wasn't confirmed by Microsoft first-hand. Now we know it was.
