Microsoft: 3.9 million Xbox One units sold to retail stores

4.8
A few weeks ago, Microsoft announced that it had sold over 3 million Xbox One consoles to consumers from its launch on November 22th to the end of 2013. Today, as part of its quarterly financial report, Microsoft revealed that it has sold 3.9 million Xbox One consoles during its last quarter to retail stores.

The numbers also include 3.5 million Xbox 360 consoles that were sold to the retail channel, for a total of 7.4 million Xbox devices that were purchased by stores for the last quarter. Remember, these numbers are for console units that are bought by customers like GameStop, Walmart and Target, rather than the sales recorded to consumers.

Last week, Microsoft said that in the U.S. it sold 908,000 Xbox One units in December, making it the best selling home console for that month. The Xbox 360 sold 643,000 units in December in the U.S, which made the eight year old device the third best selling home console for that month.

Hopefully, Microsoft will offer more information on Xbox One sales during its financial quarterly conference call with analysts. It is scheduled to be held at 5:30 pm ET today.

Bloomy My god.. They're making so much money..

Most of their money comes from the games and accessories. It costs almost as much money to make the console as they sell it for. They are making a lot of money though.
They've sold over $1.95 billion worth of consoles to retails. From that, they've probably made about $195 million.

* That's at $500 per console, $50 profit per console *

That's honestly not much money for Microsoft, the amount of money it cost to develop the console, they have hardly made a dent.

Like UMF said it's a 195 million dollar profit which is so much money. But you got to remember that's to retailers not necessarily to people.

OfficialLeon lost of them are sitting collecting dust. PS4s are rare. i went into walmart on monday saw a 8 xbox ones and 0 ps4s. i wish sony would get their production together they would definitely be on top.

What do you mean on top?They have more sales the the xbox one.

true^ thats why there are none in stores:P they have all sold...

It's true Sony has sold more and that their is more demand, but Sony's manufacturing has been horrendous leading to shortages. Microsofts manufacturing has been vastly superior.
