Xbox One Driver Update - "Expect Great Things"
“I am trying to get a good read on when the next Xbox One driver update happens. Should mean great things. Sometime in the next few weeks,” he tweeted.
He also added that the team working at Redmond were probably some of the best OS programmers in the world, which is a given since this is the company that helped bring us Windows. “Make no mistake about it. The team at Redmond working on the Xbox OS are probably the best OS programmers in the world.”
Earlier today, thuway had spoken to a developer about the biggest bottleneck for the PS4 and Xbox One with the response being memory. Given that both consoles have been proudly touted as having 8 GB GDDR5 RAM and 8 GB DDR3 RAM (along with eSRAM) respectively, there is some limit on the RAM allocated for developer.
However, he clarified in some new tweets that it was a simple answer being given and nothing more. “I should leave a footnote: developer who made RAM comment was not complaining, only giving a straight answer.”
While developers may be satisfied with what the Xbox One and PS4, we shouldn’t assume that their ambition stops at any specific number. “Developers are very happy with these next gen machines, but let’s not delude ourselves into thinking developer ambition stops at 6 GB of RAM.”
What are your thoughts on the overall OS of the Xbox One? Is it superior than the PS4′s or does it pale in comparison? Also, what are your thoughts on the performance that devs will be able to get out of RAM in the coming years? Let us know what you think below.

Hopefully the update improves the OS.
Fortunately, I have not noticed too many issues that bother me so far.

i wanna be able to view my achievements quickly while not leaving the game... when you hold for more info when getting an achievement, it takes you to the achievement name, and nothing else, then when you click more info it takes you out of the game into a different window...

cooperhirstMavericks I hate the OS. No one can say it's good because right now it's slow and more complicated than it needs to be. 360's was far superior.
Not slow for me and some getting used to is needed, but once used enough it is easier than the 360 as voice commands can take you from a game strait to account settings in a few seconds. So slow.. no. Doesn't lag and is faster due to learning voice commands. And complicated... no. Learn about it then whine.
No, it is definitely slow and not faster than the 360 UI. Opening other people's gamercards while playing a game takes forever, same with opening messages and skype. Starting a party is slower than it was on the 360 so I'll reference that since this is next-gen. How is it not complicated? When starting a party chat it doesn't automatically bring you into party chat like it did with the 360. You have to press another button to actually get into party chat. It also doesn't have and auto-sign in feature so if the Kinect fails or you choose not to use the Kinect then you have to manually sign in every time. Don't tell me it isn't slow or complicated when myself and tons of people are dealing with this horrible software rushed onto the console. It is a major downgrade from the 360, no doubt.
