Xbox One is “uncapped”, according to Phil Harrison

4.5
The Xbox One is up and running and Microsoft VP Phil Harrison is excited about what the future holds for Redmond’s newest console.

“When you’ve been around for a long time, you know what platforms are like,” Harrison told OXM. “The games you celebrate and are proud of in the first year, when you look back at them from the perspective of ten years from now; you’d be amazed at the difference. It’s a combination of the tools getting better, developers beginning to understand the unique architecture to work with.”

Harrison credits the Xbox One’s flexibility of the cloud and that its potential will be unlocked over time.

“Crucially this time around, there’s the power of the cloud and what that means for game design,” he said. “That can grow and scale indefinitely – of course there is a practical limit but in effect you’re uncapped. And I think, from a player’s perspective, that’s the most exciting part; that it’s not just about the chips in the box under the television or wherever you position your console of choice, it’s about what the platform will provide you with over time. We’ve not had that in a console generation before.”

In addition to Game DVR, SmartGlass and Kinect integration, Harrison said that there were five other features in Microsoft’s pipeline ready to come out.

Debris We all understand that current internet can utilize the urgent cloud. But Microsoft is trying to say tye can offload computing real time, current speeds cant handle this due to latency, fact.

Do you work for Microsoft? No you don't. So stop trying to negate what they're saying about the cloud. You know little to almost nothing compared to what the engineers/workers know over at Microsoft Corp.

It's just an opinion, although he's saying it as if he is an employee lol

The cloud is really interesting, but hurts your brain thinking about it, the future has a lot to offer.

FYI I'm 21 live alone in California I work a good job and I own both consoles a pc gaming rig so don't go with your crap about me being a 15 year old.

Debris Microsoft needs to stop lying about the cloud. The fact is, current internet speeds cant truly utilize cloud computing, the cloud can only do very little in the way of lighting and ai. Technology isn't ready for true cloud computing.

No it's called you are a Playstation fanboy and always have been so your brain can't contemplate the awesome things that Microsoft is doing. Lol

Actually i owned an xbox 360, hated Sony last gen. Now i own both next gen consoles, I am by no means a Sony fanboy.
I'm just trying to help you guys out, Microsoft shoves lies down your throat and you just keep on taking it, i back up what I say with facts, you just yell at others.

The Xbox 1 is a fine console, but there is just certain things graphically that it will never attain.

Firstly, stop talking absolute bollox about internet speeds. A console produced by Americans and sold by Americans and you think you know what your talking about when you talk about internet speeds, how coincidental. You don't need a good internet speed at all to have cloud compatibility. for the service, all that is asks is 4mb/s which is effectively 0.5 Mb/s. which is slow as hell. So if you don't have that internet speed, then unlucky. I can gaurantee nearly all ISP will have a package with at least 10x that internet speed.

We are not talking about current cloud services, but full blown cloud computing like Microsoft is touting. There is way too much latency for true cloud computing right now. I have a 100/30 internet speed, but I'm no where close to using cloud processing.
First off saying internet speeds cant utilize it is basically saying hey everyone has .002 mbps internet. Where not hosting cloud servers. our xbox is sending data to it via our internet and retrieving it. You internet speed has nothing to do with this. you could have the worst internet in the country and still utilize it. stop being a sony fanboy. owning the competitors platform does not eliminate you from being a fanboy.and how in the world has microsoft lied to us? can you provide us specific documents that their statements are lies? If not dont comment.

I have had the Xbox One since it's launch and the 360 since 2006(ish) and I am NOT a fan of the Xbox One. The problems are countless and it's not worth the $500 I spent on it.

AT THE LEAST they could have given us a 1TB manageable HDD but instead they gave us some 360gb piece of s*** that can't even be managed.

The dashboard is unorganized. The new notification system blows. Parties are horrible and confusing. I could go on...

The only good thing this massive, slightly-more-capable VCR has going for it is that it's controller is ergonomically pleasing. THATS IT.

Basically what I am saying is: Idgaf about what the VPs of microsoft or whatever they are have to say. This can't be fixed.
