Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson addressed recent rumors Friday that a Wii U version of the popular open-world sandbox game was in the works. While he did put the kibosh on the rumor, he did leave a glimmer of hope for owners of the Nintendo console.

"I am not aware of any plans to release a Wii U version of Minecraft," Persson stated on Twitter account.

Flutterlicious It wouldn't be playable on the WiiU anyway.

It wouldn't be able to run it.

If an iPod can run Minecraft i would think that a Wii U could also do it.

A Wii U could most definitely run Minecraft. Just because the Wii doesn't have the specs of a Xbox/PS/PC doesn't mean it can't run games. Plus Minecraft needs very little requirements to play it.

Pretty much, as long as they actually optimize the game correctly it should run quite well on the PC's hardware

I think an iPods hardware might be better than the Wii U

Now that I have come back to this article and re-read some of the comments it does make since. I mean now, the Wii U has sold more than the Xbox One as of now so it would be in Mojang's best interest to make it applicable for the Wii U. It would only make sense. I think they should make a copy for the Wii U because it has more children fan base and I think the children would/already really enjoy Minecraft.

Was meant to write Wii U in that last comment -_-

Caszech Wish they could of done this, oh well.

it is possible for them to do it in the future, providing that the Wii U gains a larger userbase

Pittsburgh
Georgasm Maybe if the console sold more, there would be a Wii U version.

That's why. It sold pretty bad.

I could see this happening. If more people own the console there would be a higher chance of the game making a sale, hence a higher chance of the company actually turning a profit
