DayZ hits Steam Early Access right in the head

4.5
The zombies are finally here! Hooray! DayZ is now available for PC on Steam Early Access for $30. As always, those who buy the early version will get the final build when it launches – and developer Bohemia Interactive is certain to note that the current release is truly an unfinished version of the game:

"DayZ Early Access is your chance to experience DayZ as it evolves throughout its development process. Be aware that our Early Access offer is a representation of our core pillars, and the framework we have created around them. It is a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle."

This echoes the sentiment from DayZ creator Dean Hall earlier this month, when he cautioned potential players that the Early Access version would be "barebones." Still, YouTubers are encouraged to show the world what DayZ's bones look like, Hall says on Twitter.

DayZ hit Early Access with a launch trailer, but that was pulled from Steam for being too graphic.

Cymru I have played 5 hours of this so far, So far the only "bug" I have found is the lack of loot spawns. It's not really a bug, But Rocket and the Dev team need to sort out the loot tables. I'm also sad of the lack of vehicles in the alpha, Chernarus is a large map hardly traversible by foot.

Also add me on steam i'm getting the game on xmas day Steam ID: PCGenesis

iLewis Been playing it all last night, it's great. Yes there are bugs, because it's in alpha, but to be honest I haven't found many, maybe 1 or 2.

So from your impressions is it worth it's money?

Well sense hes not responding I'll give you my opinion. 30 dollars is way to expensive for a buggy alpha game. He said they planned on making it like minecraft model were it starts out small and goes higher come full release. SO if you are sure you want it, I guess you should buy it now considering it will cost you probably 60 on full release.

Wow,i'm definatly buying this when the full game is released.

Can't wait to buy this. It looks to be a big improvement from the actual mod that I've spent many hours playing with friends and solo. Definitely worth it by the looks of it.

I'd personally rather wait till Beta or full release to buy the game.

I'm thinking the same thing, but then again I'm not. I'd rather get it now so I can enjoy it longer, bugs or not, and I think that the Beta and Full Game will cost more anyway. So it's probably worth it to get it now instead of later. And even if you can't stand the bugs, you can always play the DayZ mod on Arma 2 until they fix most of the things on standalone
