Xbox One: “Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price,”

4.4
PS4 vs Xbox One is a hot ticket right now, and it’s got Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter analysing his way into our headlines once more. Now, he feels the £80 discrepancy between both formats is a significant game-changer that could cost Microsoft the generation.

It follows Pachter’s disbelief at why Nintendo President Satoru Iwata still had a job.

Speaking with GI.biz, Pachter said, “The reason Sony beats Microsoft is solely the price. Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price. If Microsoft drops its price to $399, I expect the sales to be equal to the PS4.”

That’s a short-term fix however, but what about the long-term? Pachter commented on sales projections that state both PS4 and Xbox One will out-sell their predecessors, “I don’t know where they get those numbers. I don’t think you’re ever going to see 500 million consoles out there. The next generation of consoles is probably the last. We expect frequent model updates instead of new consoles. I think the PC is going to make a comeback, the PC will be the hub of all this stuff.”

Do you think parents will fork out $500 like nothing this holidays? $399.99 looks better than 499.99.. I have seen so many people switch to PS4 just for that. On black friday I was waiting at a long long line at bestbuy's and a lot of parents were dissing xbox about the price tag.

2014 An extra 100$ for better online and crisper audio with locked in 60FPS. I'll take it any day over PS4

The PS4 and the Xbox One run games almost identical to each other. Both stay at 60FPS most of the time. Whether or not the Xbox One has better online is to be seen. I'll give it about a year before I actually start saying which is better or not.

XJR This is a stupid topic, xbox will never fail.. Did ps3 fail when it was $200 - $300 more than the xbox 360?no so why would a whole $100 difference on a console that comes with more accessories fail now?It won't, and if it ever does it wont be because of the price.

Because Critics are stupid. I never listen to these type of articles. Each company will beat each other in their own way. No one will "lose."

It costs them like 470$ to make the consoles though so they dont have a lot of wiggle room

Yes i do think 4.30 is alot but I would say it is worth it.

It costs them a lot to make the consoles though. They would be spending more money making the consoles than they are selling, and that would be a loss in profit. Ignorant.

Yeah but the only problem is they would lose over 70 bucks each console making a HUGE loss in profit over millions of sales. People need to realize that the only reason it's $500 is because of they sold it any less they'd be at a big loss for now at least. They can only think about price drops when the price to make the xbox drops
