PS4 console problems “within our expectations,” says Sony

4.2
PlayStation 4 has launched in North America and Canada, and while most of the territory is enjoying the experience, some users have reported bricked consoles. As you know, Sony has issued a statement on the matter.

As we reported yesterday IGN was handed the quote by a Sony rep. It reads, “A handful of people have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 systems. This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch.

“There have been several problems reported, which leads us to believe there isn’t a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of systems. The number of affected systems represents less than .4% of shipped units to date, which is within our expectations for a new product introduction.”

This statement corrects reports that .04% of the consoles were affected, which we again, reported yesterday. But it’s good to keep this in mind.

We’ll have more from Sony and the launch of PS4 throughout the weekend.

EskShadowZ This is one of the reasons that prove why Sony is not top dog in console industry.

The Xbox one hasn't released yet, so how can you say it isn't top dog in the industry. Also, wasn't the 360's fail rate 50% at one point. Overall the Ps3's was under 5%.

Yeah the 360 failure rate was awful until they stopped using xenon boards, but falcons were not much better either.

The xbox 360 failrate was %33. Psn crash rate don't even get me started

this is stupid. xbox fail rate was stupidly high. psn went down like once because of a hack. .4% is a really good failure rate on a new product.

Its always bound to happen.

Axe At least the launch wasn't as big of a flop as GTA Online.

Not many launches can live up to that...

Well we are talking about 400 dollar consoles that are selling out pretty quick, not a 60 dollar game.

Furyan Sony should stick to making TV's and let Microsoft take care of the Gaming/Computing Industry. They seem to have already, Well since the 360 came out Sony have been second best and always will be.

Why should Sony stick to making TV's? Why is Microsoft the only one that has the right to make it in the "Gaming/Computing Industry." First off, the original 360 failure rate, was insanely horrible. 0.4% of shipped consoles was affected, technology is always going to run into problems!

It's obvious that those blaming sony for that 0.4% dont know a sh*t about electronics, problems will always happen.
