Sony won't ban PS4 consoles that arrive early to customers

4.5
Microsoft made headlines this weekend when it would not allow the few people who got Xbox One consoles sent to them ahead of its November 22nd launch date to use the product online. Microsoft executive Albert Penello later said the temporary bans on these consoles was due to the fact that the company is still trying to stomp out the final bugs in the Xbox One before the launch.

But what if, for some reason, someone gets a PS4 ahead of the U.S. launch date of November 15th, or the European launch scheduled for November 29th? Sony's President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, indicated in a Twitter post this weekend that the company won't ban any PS4 consoles that arrive to customers ahead of their launch dates.

Sony has already sent a PS4 to YouTube celebrity "Francis" to try out and the video seemed to indicate he was able to play games on the console. Sony has already announced that there will be a "day one" 300 MB software update for the console that will enable many of its features, including its ability to play Blu-ray movie discs.

KAQ Well they are just doing this because microsoft aren't :/ but it's good that they aren't banning people :)

That was kind of evident through the title of the article. I don't find it amazing that Sony is doing it just because Microsoft isn't too be honest.

NDSU LMFAO Francis the fat guy got it early? That's kind of funny.

I just saw his unboxing video and he was freaking out.

Who knows what Sonys used games policy would have been without Microsoft around to come up with something consumers hated? Considering that Sony announced their policy first, hmm maybe I might go out on a limb and say that it would have, in fact, been exactly what it is.

I think it's a good thing they wont ban early consoles, because if so they'd have to ban the people who got the EARLY Consoles like the Francis guy.

Amp-
daRealRush I don't see why Microsoft bans the consoles that arrive early. I mean, it isn't the buyer's fault! It's the retailers/companies fault, for sending them out early!

They don't ban the consoles that arrived early. Those consoles simply can't log into Xbox LIVE. Which is perfectly understandable. Xbox LIVE isn't completely ready yet.

Xbox LIVE has been up for years bro lol
