GTA Online includes in-game currency microtransactions – rumour

4.6
A file pulled from Rockstar’s website seems to show that GTA Online players will be able to buy in-game cash with real money.

A Reddit user found and analysed an XML file from Rockstar’s website, which seems to show virtual items available for purchase in Grand Theft Auto 5′s online component.

These items seem to include “cash packs” in denominations of $100,000, $200,000, $500,000 and $1.25 million.

“Cash is king in this town. Solve your money problems and help get what you want across Los Santos and Blaine County with the purchase of cash packs for Grand Theft Auto Online. All purchased cash is automatically deposited into your character’s bank account. Spend wisely, cash therapy is fleeting,” the description in the XML file states.

The news has not been confirmed, but has produced a predictably angry reaction among those who dislike microtransactions, especially given that some players have struggled to earn in-game money in single-player.

Grand Theft Auto Online goes live on October 1. it will include support for up to 16 players with various modes like racing and heists, supported by a crew system. The latest whispers say the player count may have been bumped to 32.

Georgasm This isn't a bad thing, CoD started using micro transactions and no one cared. In fact loads of people were excited for new camos every few months. This can only benefit Rockstar.

Actually a lot of people I know where calling Treyarc Money hungry constantly, but as others have said the people who have a hell of a lot of money will have the advantage over everybody else so it is going to be a pain as usual.

Despite the abuse Treyarch got, the majority of the CoD community bought camos, micro transactions will benefit Rockstar. No doubt a lot of people will pay for money.

How can you guys compare camos that don't do anything to the gameplay to cash on gta 5 that will effect gameplay?

I was simply providing an example of a major games developer (Treyarch) adding micro transactions into their incredibly popular game. Same rules apply to Rockstar, they might end up getting called 'money hungry' like Treyarch, but most likely loads of people will pay for cash.
I personally think paying for money is ridiculous. It's like spending your life savings on farmville...

Oh no. I feel a pay-to-win coming. What a stupid thing to do with such a great game like GTA V...

Another pointless rumor.

Pretty sure they stated or I read before that there would be in-game transactions. Still a scam, especially if people are struggling to earnm money in it anyway :/

Blooddrunk Lets pay money only to get killed and have someone run off with everything you've just paid for. Not the smartest route to take.

That would make me quite furious if I just payed $10 on online currency and then had someone steal it. Hopefully if you do buy it, it goes straight into the bank, instead of onto your character.
