GTA Online includes in-game currency microtransactions – rumour

4.6
A file pulled from Rockstar’s website seems to show that GTA Online players will be able to buy in-game cash with real money.

A Reddit user found and analysed an XML file from Rockstar’s website, which seems to show virtual items available for purchase in Grand Theft Auto 5′s online component.

These items seem to include “cash packs” in denominations of $100,000, $200,000, $500,000 and $1.25 million.

“Cash is king in this town. Solve your money problems and help get what you want across Los Santos and Blaine County with the purchase of cash packs for Grand Theft Auto Online. All purchased cash is automatically deposited into your character’s bank account. Spend wisely, cash therapy is fleeting,” the description in the XML file states.

The news has not been confirmed, but has produced a predictably angry reaction among those who dislike microtransactions, especially given that some players have struggled to earn in-game money in single-player.

Grand Theft Auto Online goes live on October 1. it will include support for up to 16 players with various modes like racing and heists, supported by a crew system. The latest whispers say the player count may have been bumped to 32.

Well I guess since all the game companies are doing this why not GTA?

Great! So now all the shit players will run and buy these retarded "cash packs" and get all of the expensive stuff on a server. People don't understand how retarded this really is. While i'm sitting with a trashed bicycle, an ass hole who bought money will be rolling in dough and driving a Bugatti.

I really hope they don't do this.

people cry way too much over microtransactions. like seriously shut the f*ck up. Rockstar can do what they want. you want a game without MT then go make one of your own.

I don't see a problem in doing this.. I won't spend money on it.

If they do this... I will lose a whole ton of respect!

Ahh this defeats the purpose then, Little kids are going to Instantly whip out their parents cards or Old heads charge their Rent money and Instantly have cash. I thought the moral of the game was to earn money. Not Buy your fame.. If anything they should have made Gun Packs available to buy, but MONEY PACKS? Aghh.. Kinda takes the fun out of doing Heist and Robbing Banks/Liquor Stores.

Well this is bad news... Don't do it rock star

What is the big problem? If you are even half decent at the game you will not need to purchase the micro-transactions its just for those who ain't got the skill required to earn loads of money. I will buy if I need it but with my skill level I doubt I will need to. But why hate on Rockstar? They have brought us all a game which is miles above the rest in terms of quality and your moaning about some small amount of money being payed to help you out if you need it... Fickle fans.
