Grand Theft Auto V has claimed the record as the biggest UK video game launch in history.

Rockstar's latest title, which launched globally on September 17, managed to sell around 1.57 million units in its first day on sale, pulling in around £65 million, according to Chart Track figures.

How these figures break down by platform went unspecified.

That smashes the previous record held by Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops, which managed 1.41 million units sold and around £58 million in its launch day, November 9, 2010.
