Xbox One: Still 'no plans' to release without Kinect, says Hryb

4.6
Microsoft still has "no plans" to release Xbox One without Kinect bundled with the console, Xbox Live's director of programming Larry Hryb has told fans.

The statement arrived via a Reddit Q&A, in which Hryb responded to a question concerning a potential non-Kinect Xbox One bundle, stating: "We have no plans for that. We are 100% all in on Kinect."

Hryb's comments arrive following confirmation this week that Xbox One consoles will no longer require a Kinect sensor to be connected in order to operate, despite earlier plans to make Kinect a mandatory requirement for the new Xbox.

In May Microsoft responded to widespread fears over privacy by confirming the ability to turn Kinect 'completely off' . The firm later assured soon-to-be Xbox One owners that it had 'prioritized your privacy' with the device.

The Kinect backtrack is the latest in a number of high profile policy reversals from Microsoft's Xbox One team, most notable of which was the decision to ditch plans for the console to require an internet connection

Xbox One will be available in 21 markets this November. The Xbox One price has been set at £425 / €499 / $499.

Not even a bad thing, 1080p camera is being included here, and it has a lot of cool features :)

ACEM They had no plans to change DRM, include a headset and such but yet they did it. So no reason to believe they won't sell it w/o kinect.

The thing is a lot of people have already paid for it with the Kinect included. If they remove it a lot of people will be angry that they now could have gotten a cheaper version. So unless MS gives them back a hundred dollars if they want so they can get the cheaper version then I don't see them removing the Kinect. At least not at first. Maybe after release for instance after Christmas.

HDITeRRoRiZeI i remember when people used to think that the console 'spies' on them. people like that shock me

People who believe everything the government tell them and put up CCTV for their safety and actually believe that shock me.

_Bale They should sell it without the kinect, for a slightly cheaper price too, there are a lot of users who didn't like the 360 kinect and therefore probably will not want this one..

I know, probably just using as a excuse for a higher price than the PS4

MS also said they weren't going to change anything at E3, but you see how that worked out...

said the same thing about not changing the DRM

This does not surprise me and I don't see Xbox releasing it without it at all.
