Sony: PS4 losses will be nothing like those of the PS3

Sony will not generate as large of a loss with PlayStation 4 as it did when it launched PlayStation 3, according to SCE CEO Andrew House.

Speaking in an investors meeting last week, and reported by Bloomberg, House told investors the pricing of PS4 will not cause as large of a loss as PS3 did at launch – the latter of which caused a $3 billion loss.

“We will not generate anything like the losses we did for the PlayStation 3,” House said, as investment in the system is “much, much smaller,” this time out, what with its PC-like architecture.

Still, Sony expects to report a loss in its game division next financial period due to currency exchange rate shifts.

Such looses will be offset in part by sales of PS4, but the firm no longer expects to break-even for the year, but expects earnings to “deteriorate significantly.”

It definitely will, Xbox is more popular then Playstation is overall, I'm not a fanboy or anything, Well i am with Pc but coming from a person that has both a Xbox and PS3, From the user experience, Prefer Xbox.

I know lol. But since ms is a much larger company and xbox is much greater. I would have to say xbox

Considering how big the xbox community is. And how big Microsoft is. They are going to get much higher sales.

They will do well in the long run, in the short term they will make a loss though


Sony have always found a way to hang on.


Sony does do good in sales, I don't think they have ever had to rely on "hanging on"

They were about to sell the entertainment part of the business. Go look at sonys stock the past 10 years. It was at 150 in 2000 then dropped down to 25. Which isnt bad but they arent making the same type of money they used to.

The ps4 will make money Im just not sure itll be right away even though 70% of gamers will get a ps4 over the one...like myself


Lol "70% of gamers" where on earth did you get that number? You know what they say about the majority of statistics being made up? Well here is perfect example.

I just pulled that number out of my a$$ to be honest. But most gamers will be getting a ps4. It's gotta be above 60% of sales compared to the one.


Maybe you will, but I see more people getting the Xbox 1 than the ps4. Just my opinion
