Apple Developer Center hacked

4.4
Apple has announced its Developer Center website has been subject to a hacking attempt, and that it has "not been able to rule out the possibility" that developers' personal details have been accessed.

In a statement emailed to all developers and posted on the Developer Center website, Apple explained what had happened and informed that the site is now down for the foreseeable future while it overhauls its security.

"Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website," the statement reads.

"Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers' names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed.

"In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you of the issue. We took the site down immediately on Thursday and have been working around the clock since then.

"In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we're completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon."

In 2011, Apple was hacked by online hacktivists Anonymous but while the details of 27 usernames and passwords were leaked, no other customer data was exposed.

OmittingCoder Who cares? They are a crap company anyways.

Please elaborate on that. Apple is no means a crap company.

please explain? Apple Products are so well designed and Unique, their USP is their custom made software... for products like the Mac

They overprice everything and they pump out the same technology every year luring people to buy something that you can get for a third of the price. Yes they are big. And yes their devices are good (somewhat). But they still are crap, as a company. Pretty obvious if you ask me.

Cokes If anything, Xbox is the money hungry company here.

Lol, the point of a company is to make money. You aren't going to make a company like Microsoft and not hope to make any money, that would be stupid. And they will keep trying to make as much money as possible just in case something in the future happens, they will have extra money to fix it or whatever.

DubleJayJ And Apple falls down now too. Who's next? Microsoft? Let's hope.

They didn't fall, they slipped.
Well said Woobie.

Why would you want Microsoft to be hacked?

If you owned a multi-billion dollar company, and someone said they wish you were hacked, you would laugh in their face because you have billions. I'm sure if Microsoft saw your comment, they would laugh in your face.

GTFO fanboy.

What a scrub lol. I'm a fanboy? Fanboy of what, Sony? Funny how I don't own a single Sony console. Secondly, they do need to be hacked. They need to change their money hungry ways.

the point of a company is too make money, your point is invalid...

To make money*
Secondly, they already make a lot of money as it is. To just keep on stacking useless **** is overkill. Gotta pay for Gold to watch Netflix? Stupid.

LOL I would like to try n see ANNON take down microsoft.

Who's Annon? Secondly, no company is vulnerable.

invulnerable* My mistake.
