New Xbox Live Rewards to be revealed September 1st

It will be making changes to the existing scheme - which offers players rewards for their Achievement unlocking skills - following the phasing out of Microsoft Points in favour of local currency.

The platform holder said: "With all these changes, it's become necessary for us to evolve the way we reward you. Starting August 1, 2013, you will not be able to earn Microsoft Points through Xbox Live Rewards any longer.

"Not to worry, though! Since this currency change is impacting the structure of the program, we're taking the opportunity to make Xbox Live Rewards even better.

"You'll continue to get rewarded for doing the things you love on Xbox Live - just not with Microsoft Points. So come back to rewards.xbox.com on September 1, 2013 for the full scoop."

Microsoft's plan to retire MS Points got off to a shaky start this week after beta testers for the next Xbox 360 system update found that the conversion process to real world currency left them being asked to pay significantly more for content. Responding to complaints, the platform holder called the dodgy conversion process "an unintended error" and promised to reimburse those affected.

Ted- What will happen to the gamerscore modders that don't get caught?


It was't that big of a deal, If someone modded there gamerscare to like 300k they would get 2% of the money they spent back at the end of a month, If someone spend $100 in purchases they would only get $2 for free


And then a few months/days later their gamerscore gets reset

Aggie Well I never used the rewards. Doesn't effect me.


The rewards were crap.


They were good like 400 msp for renewing gold but now they only give 200 msp :(

Thats pretty cool. What if one of the things in the new reward system is, you can't have any bans, suspenions, etc against you. :O

I probably won't miss the old system too bad. I haven't gotten any points in the past few months.

bigchukka Id like a reward system that unlocked points on my account and with the points i can buy games.


Maybe that's what this will do.


The only problem is that people will modify their achievements in order to get these points.
