Nintendo loses battle to take control of WiiU.com domain

4.5
Nintendo has lost the fight to gain control over the domain WiiU.com after a complaint was filed back in February.

WiiU.com in all its glory...
The decision was posted to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) website on Saturday, confirming that Nintendo's complaint to gain control of WiiU.com was denied, as reported by Fusible.

The domain has been registered by a company in Burlington, Massachusetts since 2004.

Fusible notes that WiiU.com was put up for auction, yet once Nintendo filed the complaint with WIPO the listing was removed. It appears that Nintendo will have to pay a sizable amount in order to have control of the domain.

WiiU.com is currently a placeholder site containing link to both Wii U and non-WiiU content.

There has been no explanation provided as to why Nintendo lost the case.

bigchukka I don't get it. All company's should have the right to their products website name.

Someone took it before they even wanted the website domain. Yeah they should be allowed to have it but they probably didn't put too much effort into getting it either. I mean that in the sense of saying they will pay for the domain.

Find it so funny that a company like Nintendo can't even got hold of a domain name.

Bruh
Wart I'm sorry but Nintendo are no where near as big as Sony and Microsoft put together (facepalmed)

Youre an idiot nintendo outsells them

Nintendo may be bigger than the xbox division of microsoft, but it is no where near the size of microsoft as a whole. Microsoft is one the biggest companies in the world. Microsoft is a 300 billion dollar company. Nintendo is a less than 10 percent of that.

Vortexes I have heard that some people aren't too impressed with the Wii U at this point. Maybe Nintendo should just buy the domain.

The Wii U isn't going through the best of times when it comes to sales. The Nintendo 3DS is doing pretty good but the Wii U, not so good. The sales might increase once the games that were revealed at E3 come out but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
