Xbox One adapter for Xbox 360 headsets inbound

Microsoft is working on an adapter allowing you to use Xbox 360 wired headsets with the Xbox One.

The news comes via the Xbox Support Twitter account, responding to a question about whether existing headsets will work with the new console.

“We are working to develop an adapter for current wired headsets to connect. More details as we approach launch,” a representative said.

The Xbox One will not come bundled with a headset, because the Kinect, which is included in every package and required for the console to function, will perform basic voice chat duties. There is an official headset, though.

Both Mad Catz and Turtle Beach have said they’ll be developing peripherals for the new console as well.

highmjw13 Will headsets like the x32 (only wire is between controller and headsets) work with this adapter or does wired mean a USB from console to the headset.


I'm sure it's the wire that connects from the headphones to the controller that the adapter will be for.


The adapter will be a mini usb to headphone jack. Also I doubt the adapter will have the same volume / mute input as the new models do.

This is great news. It will save people a bunch of money since they won't have to go out and by a new gaming headset.

I emailed astro gaming and this what they sent back

For Xbox One, we are working with Microsoft on possible XBox One licensing for ASTRO products. We can't comment further at this time, but stay tuned for updates!
