Xbox One: Microsoft explains why it doesn’t include a headset

4.8
Xbox One consoles will not be bundled with headsets because it comes with Kinect, Microsoft has said. The company has issued a statement on the matter

In a statement to Ars Technica, a Microsoft official said, “Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory.

“Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences. For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire.”

Sold separately, the Xbox One Chat Headset has not been priced, but it is confirmed as having mono sound, a directional mic, volume control and a mute button.

Kinect does have cameras sure, but it’s no use to people who want to play a shooter and who doesn’t want to have the sound of gunfire blaring across their home while their kids are trying to get some kip.

Tend Kinect mics were terrible on the 360. Maybe they might be better.

You could always tell who had one, sounded like their TV was underwater.

If they fixed the new Kinect where it doesn't sound like that, then it will be usable for a mic without anybody having to worry too much.

They were just annoying as hell

The kinect mike on the Xbox360 barely worked. This is what is worrying consumers, i think that Kinect should of waited for the Xbox One. The 360 version has given us all a bad impression

I just hope that the Kinect works well with voice recognition. Microsoft are innovating and i like that idea yet i'm not sure if we are ready for this leap

yeah that is why i hope the rumor that there will be one that doesn't come with the kinect is true because that would save a lot of peoples sanity from hearing echose of other players gun fire

-TooSucky Microsoft is going to be like the government... terrible.

A lot of people think that the Kinect is linked with NSA, and honestly I wouldn't doubt it.
