Sonic still unconfirmed for Super Smash Bros 4

4.7
Sega and Nintendo have not been talking about Sonic returning in the upcoming Super Smash Bros game for 3DS/Wii U. What seems like an obvious choice to many hasn't been discussed by the two companies yet.

Takashi Iizuka from Sonic's team said this about the hedgehog joining the Super Smash Bros roster as a third party character in the upcoming game.

"All we can say is that we also think it would be awesome if he was in the next Smash Bros. So yea, but that’s more of a question for Nintendo than us."

You would think Nintendo would have already contacted Sega about it. Perhaps they want to focus more on the first party Nintendo characters before working on 3rd party characters. The game is set to be released in 2014 so they still have time to discuss Sonics possible addition to the roster. Either Nintendo is really considering letting Sonic sit this one out or they’re going to wait to confirm his addition to the game.

Cool but I never cared about sonic in this game. I really want them to add skull kid from majora's mask.

wok i hope sonic is on the game, he is cool, so is shadow :3

Shadow > Sonic nuff said ;D But both in there would be pretty cool.

Sonic is the best.

Shadow sorry. He is exactly matched with Sonic but with just one Chaos Emerald he is stronger than Sonic. Plus he has a better color to him :3

Agreed. Shadow is superior. I absolutely loved the 'Shadow the Hedgehog' game for the PS2. I hope he gets put into a super smash bros game some time

Never completed it to the fullest, I kept getting the bad ending .-. I have a feeling if he was put in SSB his final smash would be either Super Shadow or like how his assist trophy acted in SSBB.

Shadow isn't Sonic's equal. Canonically, Sonic can run at the speed of light. In Sonic Chronicles, Shadow himself admitted that he couldn't outrun Sonic. In Sonic Rivals, Sonic is stated as the "fastest living being in the universe". It was already shown that Shadow's speed was from Hovershoes. Sure, Shadow can use Chaos Control without the Chaos Emerald, but if Sonic has one, he's also been shown to use Chaos Control.

Sonic > Shadow

Chronicles isn't cannon, Shadow can't use Chaos Control without the Chaos Emerald, and the hovershoes are just an improvement to Shadow's speed they are pretty equal in speed although I would say Sonic has become faster I do like Sonic more but yea... facts and stuff ya know. Plus Shadow was literally created just to be Sonic's equal although in recent games he has been more doing his own thing.

Sonic is 15 years old. Shadow has been around since before Sonic, he wasn't created to be his equal. You said Shadow's hovershoes improved his speed to be that they're equal, then said Sonic is faster. Shadow has used Chaos Control without an emerald in most of the games. Knuckles said that was because he has the ability to tap into the Chaos Force. Sonic's speed has never become increased. The games portray him as being different to balance out gameplay, but his top speed has remained the same, for the most part.

Shadow without Sonic would seem kind of silly though, Sonic is the face of the franchise (that being the Sonic franchise, not Super Smash Bros).

Yeah, if Shadow is going to be in the upcoming game Sonic will have to be in it as well. They can't add in a side character without adding the main character, that would just be weird..

Aggie Wow I thought sonic was always in SSB.

He was in Super Smash Bros Brawl, but SSB(N64) and SSB: Melee he wasn't in those games. He may appear in the new SSB but it's not confirmed yet.

I wouldn't mind if he was included in the upcoming one. It would increase the range of characters that you can fight with and i personally like sonic

Hopefully they will add more characters then they have ever had in the SSB series. Like around 60 or so. Would be pretty fun and would keep it interesting by having more characters to unlock.

I would like if they had around 10 unlockable characters so we have something to work towards in game

Isn't that even less than Melee and SSBB had? I was thinking somewhere around like 20 unlock-able characters or something.

I was shooting a little low when it came to unlock-able characters i guess. 20-25 would be desireable

I would want around 40-45, it would keep the game really interesting and you would be able to play as so many character. A total of around 60 in total like someone said above. But yea sonic will be in the game, the never tend to remove characters just add.

They removed Mewtwo. But 40-45 unlock-able characters would seem a little too much. Yeah 60 characters would so great but 40-45 would be a hassle to get. Maybe somewhere between 20-30.

I think that would be the best Amount. It isn't too little that it's not worth the effort yet it isn't too much that it will get tedious
