DayZ more likely on PS4 than Xbox One

Both Microsoft and Sony have approached Bohemia Interactive about porting DayZ to new hardware, but creator Dean “Rocket” Hall is more in favour of the PlayStation 4 than Xbox One.

“We talked to both of them. But, as I’m sure you’re aware, Sony lets you self-publish and they don’t make you pay for updates,” Hall told Eurogamer.

“Microsoft requires you to have a publisher. They have no digital distribution strategy and they require you to pay $10,000, or whatever it is, for updates.”

Hall said that Bohemia likes Sony, and that he personally liked what he saw on the PlayStation 4.

“I like what I saw on the Xbox in a lot of cases as well,” he added. I’m not shitting on them. I’m kind of hopeful that Microsoft has just forgot to talk about its indie support. Maybe I’m being a bit naive.”

The architecture of both consoles mean Hall doesn’t see many barriers to getting DayZ running on either of them.

“It’s totally achievable. The only barriers are the ones console manufacturers put up in the way of indie devs,” he said.

“That’s the only barrier now. I’d love to see this on Xbox Live. I’d love to see it on PS4.”

A console port is probably inevitable but the DayZ team won’t start on it until the PC standalone release is finished.

Well if dayz had a publisher it would pretty much ensure it was a full boxed game attracting more sales and players so maybe they need to sort their attitude out considering MS don't need their game, they were just trying to help a game out.

The PS4 seems to be like a dumb phone, it only focuses only calling and texting.

The Xbox One is like s smart phone, does more than just play games. But the PS4 fanboys are like the old people who hate smarts phone because they they should only call and text.

Here's the largest difference between consoles. On the PS4, you can pick up any game that was sold for it 5-15 years from now and still be able to play it. On the X1, You will have maybe 5 years max to lay that game then it's worthless.You can't say that you've never picked up a game that was 5 or more years older and thought about how crappy it was. You picked up a 5 or more year old game because it was fun and had tons of potential. PS4 is winning because of this sense of longevity. No-one wants a console (or phone) for a day then just to drop it for the next best thing.

I highly doubt Microsoft will just stop supporting games 5 years from now, they've been supporting the Xbox for 8 so far. And you think they'll only support Xbox One games for 5 years? Lmao. I know yo want to prove your point, but just stop. And Microsoft is looking to the future, which is why they're handling things the way they are.

What are you talking about? He hasn't said it was going to be a PS4 exclusive. He did say, he would like to see it on both consoles.


What one do you think he will pick... PS4 which has more pre orders, cost less to put on PS4, and easier to put put on PS4. Or Xbox one which has less pre orders, cost WAY more to put on Xbox, and needs a publisher to digitally distribute the game.
