Windows 8.1 Start button shown in leaked screenshots

4.6
Leaked screenshots have revealed the look of the Start button that's rumored to be returning to Windows in its 8.1 update. Paul Thurrott has posted images showing the brand new Start button fashioned as an unadorned Windows 8 icon. According to ZDNet, clicking on the button will likely return users to the Start Screen, rather than opening a menu like in earlier versions of Windows. However, the Start Screen can reportedly now use your desktop wallpaper as its background, helping to blend the potentially jarring change between the desktop and Modern UI style interface.

The Verge learned earlier this year both that the Start button would be returning and that a boot to desktop option is being considered for the coming update. Thurrott is also reporting that a boot to desktop option will be included, but that it will be turned off by default. Though Microsoft is yet to confirm that either of these options will be present in Windows 8.1, this new leak certainly helps to further substantiate the Start button's return.

Not surprised they're adding it back, That is the most annoying version about windows 8 in the desktop mode.

It is quite stupid how this screen looks the exact same as Windows 7 but with a new Start logo, which looks like crap anyways.

There's this thing called StartIsBack which is amazing and solves the Start Button problem.

Sinks to everyone saying windows 8 is terrible. you obviously haven't given windows 8 a solid try. At first i thought i was pretty gay. but once you custumize it to the way you like it is pretty great

I'm with sinks on this, don't knock it til you try it!! Windows 8 operates like windows 7 but is faster and smoother, you can play your PC games you played on 7 on windows 8 without problems. I personally find Windows 8 a very user friendly and smooth OS. I'm a senior at a University studying Computer Science and I like this especially since I own a windows phone 8 and it syncs with my laptop it's amazing!

ExoticWolfs Never used windows 8. I always use 7, I heard 8 is a lot worse anyways.

It is they got rid of the basic windows look and feel and made it more like a bulky tablet. Also I hope they include a start menu instead of going to the start screen.
