PS4 and Xbox One 'a generation ahead' of high end PCs - EA CTO

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are a generation more powerful than today's high-end PCs, according to an Electronic Arts exec.

Writing on LinkedIn, EA chief technology officer Rajat Teneja noted that the horsepower of current high-end PCs will be dwarved by Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles.
"Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have adopted electronics and an integrated systems-on-a-chip (soc) architecture that unleashes magnitudes more compute and graphics power than the current generation of consoles," Teneja wrote.

On the comparison between current and next-gen consoles, Teneja believes the new consoles will perform 8-10 times better than the PS3 and Xbox 360.

"These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market and their unique design of the hardware, the underlying operating system and the live service layer create one of the most compelling platforms to reimagine game mechanics."

Similarly, Avalanche Studios CTO Linus Blomberg said in March that the PlayStation 4's 8gb RAM will ensure it will "out-power most PCs for years to come."

This is has to be the dumbest comment of the year in the gaming industry. Since Nvidia announcing their newest GPU the GTX 780 the other day, This comment is obsolete LOL. Seriously, the next gen consoles have 8 core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. Thats no where near on par with AMD flagship model FX-8350 8 core processor clocked at 4.2GHZ. These consoles don't support desktop GPU's they support mobile GPU. I read the new PS4 will feature a Radeon 7870M GPU. The next Gen console are not on the same field as high end desktops, But their on the same field as mid entry gaming laptops. Besides, gamers who build high end destops like me, dont use AMD products. BTW these console's do not have a ssd in them. SSD reduces load times dramatically. Last time I checked, consoles do not support liqiud cooling. This means no over clocking your new Xbox One or PS4. That being said, here's another moron saying another stupid comment to try to boost the sells up. If you try to argue this you are also a moron. You've obviously never built a desktop.

i know the new xbox is 32bit i read on the xbox dashboard or something, i read the specs and it said 8gb ddr3 ram memory and 32bit so thats bad

Huh, didn't know this. Know I wish the new-gen consoles and PC's could game together, If we can run the same games, then we should be able to play together.. Just make a Keyboard/Mouse plugin so we could play PC exclusive games.. that would be tight.

They are probably going to tweak up the graphics before release date.

Sure I can see this being true and it might be, BUT within a year half a year or whatever after there release PCs will be on top again. But still this is good news and there really won't be any need for new consoles anytime soon.
