FIFA 14 producer expects to beat FIFA 13 sales, targets Call of Duty

FIFA 14 producer Sebastian Enrique has boldly predicted that the upcoming game will outsell FIFA 13.

FIFA 13 sales surpassed 12 million units between the title's release last September and the end of 2012, according to publisher EA, but Enrique appears undaunted by the challenge of living up to last year's series entry.
"We have a very strong feature set so I am very confident that we can do better in terms of sales and numbers than FIFA 13," he told MCV.

While Enrique acknowledged the challenge FIFA 14 will face from the next PES instalment, which will be powered by Kojima Productions' Fox Engine, he said he wants FIFA 14 to steal some of Call of Duty's audience.

"I respect Konami a lot and they produce good games. A lot of people have played their games for ages. I think having competition is a good thing but we don't consider competition to just be Pro Evolution Soccer. Call of Duty is also competition.

"People that are playing Call of Duty are not playing FIFA. We want them to play FIFA and we achieve that by creating the best possible game that we can create. That's what we focus on."

EA officially announced FIFA 14 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC last week, noting that "additional formats" will be revealed in the coming months. It is currently seeking FIFA 14 testers for playtest sessions due to be held later this month and early next.

Azare Targetting CoD? That's a joke.

No chance in beating Call of Duty. Honestly it is really a game to play with friends.

goodluck.

I think they have no chance in beating CoD. CoD is a game for fun, to mess around on, more people like that more than FIFA. But, I may be wrong, i doubt it though.

It won't beat Call Of Duty simply because there's more to do in COD. This may sound a bit closed minded (I am a big Fifa player however), but all you do in Fifa is just kick a ball around. Sure you only shoot people in COD but it's a change in scenery. They need to add something to dramatically change the pace and the way the game works if they want to sell big.

Shooting has always appealed more to kids than football on a console. You can kick a ball around in the real world - coming back to life after being shot is a tad harder.

REDSTORM Obviously it would beat FIFA 13. Targeting CoD franchise they must be pretty confident on the game they are making.

Too confident. They won't beat CoD in sales.

I think FIFA is just a load of shit the only thing that changes when they bring out a new FIFA is the texture of the grass and a different ball if your lucky.

To everyone saying this will never out sell COD, the guy said "he wants FIFA 14 to steal some of Call of Duty's audience" he never said it would out sell it.
